New Power of Love....and no end in sight to heat wave!

We are five days into our heatwave...and we still have at least another 7 days to go!
The power company can't seem to keep up demand so today they cut off our electricity during the hottest part of the afternoon....not happy Jan! It got ridiculously hot in minutes! I ended up watching a DVD on my laptop because it was far too hot to even do any scrapping.

Speaking of power....I have a new kit Power of Love - just in time for Valentines Day, and perfect also for wedding or engagement pages. I also have a set of quickpages and a bracket album which fits the Basic Grey albums. Because my shop is still on special until Feb 1st, you can pick these up for bargain prices right now.

Now I have a little bonus frame cluster freebie to share.

Hot Hot Hot....45.7C (114F)!!!!!

What a stinker of a week we are having! This is day 3 of a heat wave which is supposed to last at least another week. Today we nearly broke the Adelaide record of 46.1C....it got to 45.7C (114F)....we just missed it! It's even too hot for the koalas to be up in the trees. On the school run this morning one crossed the road just behind us. He should have used the school crossing because he was on a very busy road...but luckily we watched him make it to the other side!
It's too hot for some of the trains to run because the lines are buckling, and all kids' sport is cancelled. It's too hot to do housework even with the air conditioner on! The only activity to do is sitting, so working away at a computer is good!

Here's another week of photos for Project 365. I usually take lots of during the year anyway but this is forcing me to think about taking some I wouldn't normally take.

Today I made a very simple layout with one of our wedding photos. I used Pink Fusion which is great also for Valentine's Day. If you are looking for a Valentine's Day kit with red instead of pink, stay tuned, I have one coming very soon!

I'm Officially an Aussie!!!

It's Australia Day today, and I finally became an Australian citizen!

I have lived here since I was one year old and it has taken me years to get around to doing this.... although I won't say how many years!
The day started with a breakfast of bacon, eggs and sausage, followed with a ceremony where some of the speakers (politicians, of course) talked a little too long! After the ceremony we went home for coffee then had a traditional Aussie BBQ for lunch. This was followed by pavlova for dessert then a late afternoon swim to cool off. Today is day one of a heat wave which is expected to last at least 8 days!
All Aussie school kids start their new school year this week, with ours going back tomorrow after their 6 week summer break. The worst part is that the temperature tomorrow is forecast to be 41C (106F)! Justin is starting high school and I hope he settles in and his day runs smoothly.

I have another new template for you today - this one can be used for Project 365 too.

Australia Day Frame Cluster

My home city Adelaide is hosting the annual Tour Down Under cycling all week and I have been wondering if any of my scrapping friends around the world have been watching it on TV. The cyclists yesterday rode very close to our house. My DH even got this photo of Lance Armstrong as he rode up the hill nearby. I really don't know how they ride 140kms each day for six days straight. They must be super fit!
Here's the official web site - Tour Down Under - in case anyone might want to check it out.

Spring Showers Frame Cluster

We just got back from a relaxing 3 day break where we enjoyed paddling around the ever diminishing lake at Goolwa. The drought over the last couple of years has caused the lake to go down around 5 feet! Some local residents want the barrages opened so that the sea water can be let in. This may have to happen soon as the water is starting to turn green...so sad!
The photo below shows one of the marinas. The boats are now being stored on the grass behind. It's hard to imagine the water ever getting back to it's normal level.

Today I have a couple of layouts to share using my new Spring Showers kit. As you can see, I am still working my way through 1999...only 10 years to go to catch up!

I saved the frame cluster from the second layout above for you to download.

Week 3 of P365 - Free Australia Mini (again)

It turns out that Matthew's ankle is only bruised, but he has to rest it for a few days. Try telling an 11 year old that they can't play sport or ride a bike! My ankle that I rolled last Sunday seems to be going out in sympathy with Matthew's and is giving me a hard time! Oh well, I guess that means lots of scrapping time!

I have all my photos for weeks 3 of Project 365. You can see that the family pooch gets featured quite a bit....but that's because the boys are always around her! You may also notice that Matthew has had a huge hair cut....it was getting in his eyes at soccer practice! Justin also got a new quilt cover and picked out an Australian flag design....which is very appropriate because it's Australia Day in a few days. It is also the day I am going to be granted official Australian Citizenship.

In keeping with the Australia theme for this post, I have uploaded last year's freebie again for those who may have missed it or for those who may be fairly new to scrapping. I will probably create some more free goodies with these colours in the coming week so look out for those.

New Releases - Kit, QP and Frames

Five weeks into the boys six week school holiday break, and all is going quite smoothly...well 98% of the time! Our calendar is getting quite full as we approach the new school year, with soccer practice and friendly games already scheduled! Cricket season is in full swing too. Matthew was playing cricket in the backyard this week when he broke a bat when he slammed it against his ankle. We thought the ankle was ok, but now it is causing him some pain! We were sitting outside enjoying an evening latte when we heard the crack as the bat splintered.

While I am doing Project 365 I am finding that there are some days when I have lots of photo opportunities, while some days I have to think what to take....but that is the fun of doing this project. I will end up with a whole year full of photos I wouldn't have normally taken....even though I take a few thousand a year!

While on the subject of Project 365, I have a couple of frame cluster sets which can be used for this project.

P365 Stamp Clusters 1

P365 Frame Clusters 1

Also new in my shop is a page kit - Spring Showers - and a matching set of quickpages...

...and just for my blog readers, I have a couple of bragbook pages made with Spring Showers.

Template 62 - P365....First two weeks for Project 365

I have finally put together my first 2 weeks of photos for Project 365 in a very simple format. I plan to scrap them later when I have worked out what elements I want to use. So for now, I will post them here each week and collect them in a folder on my PC. They aren't very artistic because I am trying to show one significant (or unusual) event for each day. As the year unfolds I am sure I will get some more interesting photos. If you look at days 7 and 9 you will see the transformation of Matthew's bedroom!

I made a variation to my template 61, by making it suitable for double page layouts. You can put 4 photos on one page, then take out one from the second page and put in your week number.

Template 61 - P365

I have been very busy over the last few days painting Matthew's bedroom - bright lime green! It actually took me three days because we had to tidy the room before I could even wash the walls. Just when I thought I was nearly finished, the paint roller broke on the last coat! I will post a photo of the completed room very soon....it looks sensational!

Andrew decided last week that he wanted to play cricket. He has never played before and within 8 days of wanting to play, he played his first game on Saturday. He was quite excited and did ok for his first time.

Today I went for a relaxing Sunday drive with DH and one of his work colleagues who was visiting from interstate. The weather was perfect for strolling around the coast. Check out this candle of the Phantom which we saw at the markets! I think it would look quite bizarre as it melted!

Check out what some of my CT and the Scrapbook-Bytes CT have been doing with my new Brickworks kit!

Tonight I downloaded all of the photos I have taken this year and have decided to tackle Project 365! So stay tuned for lots of free P365 goodies along with some new releases in my store.
To get you all started I have created my first P365 template.

Brickworks in the Store & Bonus Frames

Today I shopped 'til I nearly dropped!

I took advantage of the January sales and stocked up on lots of bedding items, kids clothes and some stationery for the boys. I now have every piece required to transform Matthew's bedroom from a junkyard into a stunning bedroom....it may even start tomorrow morning if I can drag myself off the computer and Matthew out of bed!

If anyone guessed that my new kit Brickworks was suitable to scrap Lego or Duplo photos, you were right! It's now in my store along with a set of quickpages.
As a bonus you will get 4 brag book pages and 4 glitter styles with this new kit. I should probably also mention that they on special for 20% off for a few days!

The bonus brag pages.

The quickpages.

Here's the first of many layouts with this kit.

I have a couple of bonus Brickworks frames to share today...enjoy!

Glitter Snow Frames...and a Sneak Peek!

Life is now back to normal after the busy season of Christmas and New Year. DH has gone back to work after having a few days off, and my boys still have three weeks off before the new school year starts. During the festive season I always have trouble remembering what day of the week it is because all the days seem the same!
Now it is Monday and I have been trying to convince Matthew to tidy his room for ages. Yesterday we started sifting through his huge pile of clothes on the floor and at the bottom we found his school clothes - which he hadn't worn for 3 weeks! In our house we made a rule that when each of them reached 10 years of age, they could have a bedroom makeover and they could choose the paint colour. Although Matthew is nearly 11 1/2, he is still waiting because his room is constantly messy. He now has some incentive because we have bought the paint, some shelves and new timber blinds. It is now up to him how quickly it all happens. I can't wait to see the walls - bright green!

Here's a little sneak peek at my newest kit coming very very soon.

I finally got around to scrapping Andrew's first day at school photos, and can't believe it was 10 years ago this month he started! I used my Art 101 kit for this one.

I have some glitter snow frames to share today which would work with my Jingle Bell Blues or Snowed Under kits.

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had an enjoyable New Year! We went away for a few days after Christmas to chill out and relax. I found time to finish a fun new kit which will be in my store shortly.

Here's a handful of photos from our time away.
The boys paddled out to the sandbar to have a game of cricket. Why did they do this....for the novelty factor! This is normally where people are water skiing...but the water level is continuing to drop each month!

There are lots of jetties which are now useless.

This is why it is very important to wear a helmet when playing cricket. The ball got wedged in Justin's helmet while batting. Without the helmet he could have done some serious damage to his face.

Here is Matthew eating one of the best vanilla slices ever....I should know, I had one too (well half of one anyway)!

I don't normally take bird photos but I snapped this one while at the beach and thought it turned out quite well.

And finally today, I have some extra papers which co-ordinate with my Party Season kit (which is still half price until January 7th).
